Very Nice Camera
Date:March 1, 2013
Pros: size, hard drive, high def, touch screen, 5.1 sound
Cons: stock battery is a little too small
Great camera, great video, conveniently easy to download video to PC computer and then immediately watch (one more reason to stay away from MAC computers). Be sure to set camera to progressive scan vs interlaced scan - this made a BIG difference in playback and quality. Be sure to buy another battery or a bigger battery. One (stock) battery will not record all that long. Great resolution and 5.1 sound. Purchased 15 FEB 2013.

Sony video to IMAC - IMOVIE
Date:November 24, 2012
Pros: Very nice camera to handle and work
Cons: Very very difficult to try get your video onto IMOVIE on our IMAC
The product it self is very nice, and one of the best we have purchased. However, now knowing how difficult and time consuming it is to try and get it to sync with our IMAC, I am contemplating returning it. It does look very good on our TV with great quality and colour, but if it is not compatible with the MAC (as stated on box as well as sales associate) I will have to look elsewhere. What am I missing?

Hard to import videos to computer
Date:November 12, 2012
Pros: It seems to have good image and sound quality
Cons: It seems to be impossible to import videos to computer
I really CAN'T import videos from the camcorder to the computer. It is something that has been happening to my sony devices. It wouldn't be different with this one. I shouldn't have bought it.

Just Okay at Best, So Far.
Date:July 20, 2012
Pros: HD level video and sound
Cons: Quality and images are not very sharp
I have only had this video camcorder a few weeks so i have not mastered all the features yet. But i have the settings set to the highest quality and sound and so far the videos and images have been less than crisp. I took a picture of my dog and attached here for reference. my dog is jet black and the carpet is grey. Yet the dog came out grey and the carpet as yellow. Not sure if this is user error or the settings are not as automatic as i thought. Also, the screen interfaces is terrible. very difficult to manage and navigate the screen. Again this might be my error and not the camcorder. All in all i will try to master this camcorder and update the review later
Cons: Still picture quality, storage media selection
I have tried many video cameras recently, but this is the best in all sense. This one is absolutely great in low light video capturing. The only thing I did not like is the Still Image Quality, it is not so great... I see lots of grain - not clear picture at all - tried many settings but same thing. I may be doing something wrong, can some one explore more on it? Other thing, not so significant but nice to have one - I would like to have a feature to decide the storage media automatically - like still image capture goes to SD card and video recording goes to Hard Disk. Otherwise, this is a best camera I have tried so far, I would definitely recommend to my friends.

SONY HDR-XR260V , Very Nice !
Date:April 28, 2012
Pros: Battery life great , 160-gig HD , Auto lens door , Ease of use , great Image Stabilizer !
Cons: Chromatic-Aberration in bright sunshine .
Well i've taken 1.6-gigs of movies all in HD along with a few single images . Images turned out very good for 8.6MP images . The 5.1 sound was very good and the wind noise protection was really good except when i shot straight up at the moon . Had some wind noise at that point . The camera has the software in it so it installs when you hook up the camcorder to your computer then it installs . nice that way don't have to worry about a disc . Battery life i thought was very good . I did a full charge before i even turn the camcorder on and that was friday morn and tonight (saturday) i charged for the first time . The Canon i took back only got a max of 30-35 mins of charge and that shouldn't be . Replacement battery for the Canon was $114.00 and for the SONY it was $49.00 . Quite a difference so i did buy an extra for the SONY ! Zoom at 55 zoom was very good . Only big thing that was hard to accept was quite alot of CA from the lens when shooting in very bright areas . The light sensitivity i thought was very good ! It was quite dark outside and i was about to do a movie even at a distance of over a 1/4th mile away with max zoom . However there was some noise present but for the test i thought it did a great job ! I do think this is a very nice camcorder by SONY and i would recommend it ! Like i did mention tho i do believe SONY should see about improving the lens on this model for a reduction of CA . If CA was totally absent then i would say this is the perfect camcorder for anyone . But even then i still recommend this camcorder ! I'll be keeping mine !
